The Italian laws and regulations on the production of EVOO are very strict, therefore it is important to read the label to be able to determine if the EVOO is from Italy:

• Product of Italy - 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil - the EVOO is obtained from olives grown, cold pressed and packed in Italy;
• Imported from Italy - the EVOO could be imported and packed in any other country and shipped from Italy;
• Packed in Italy - the EVOO could be imported from any other country in the Mediterranean area and packed in Italy. In this case the origin of the EVOO has to be stated on the label "The product contains oils from Italy, Spain, Tunisia".
