I remember when I was a little girl on Sundays we had the big meal with meat. Meat was a luxury reserved only for Sundays and holydays. We still have the special meal on Sundays but meat is not considered a luxury anymore, but still don’t eat it often and if we do, we prefer white meat over red. Chicken, rabbit, pork are the most popular. One thing that we do not renounce is the Sicilians sausage made 50% pork and 50% beef with seasoning and fennel seeds that makes it special.
